Project information

This project is the first phase of Southwark Councils area action plan of the regeneration of the Aylesbury Estate, Red Lion Row, London, SE17 2ES. The development will provide a tenure mix of 260 apartments which will achieve Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4. Durkan will also construct a state-of-the-art resources centre providing updated facilities for people with sensory, neurological and physical disabilities, along with health and therapy services, adult education, employment support and IT.

Durkan will carry out the regeneration of the estate in 5 phases, the first phase valued at £7.8 million started in September 2008 with an estimated completion time of two-years. As well as the specialist resource centre the phase includes the construction of 52 apartments up to 6 storeys in height and provides a mix of 26 apartments for rent, 11 shared ownership and 15 for private sale.

The new buildings utilise a single bio mass boiler to provide heating and hot water - significantly reducing the carbon footprint of the contemporary apartments and resource centre.
