Project information
Durkan Limited has completed the construction of a new development at Norwood Road which include 39 flats for affordable rent. The 2,780m2 development, on the site of former commercial premises, incorporates three blocks rising between two and four storeys and will include a mix of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments. Norwood Road development also meets ‘Lifetime Homes’ requirements.
The Norwood Road scheme is built with energy conservation in mind; solar panels are included for the largest of the buildings to generate electricity for the hot water systems in the building. In contrast to the existing brick buildings in the surrounding area, rendered walls, powder coated aluminum external doors and windows, and zinc roofing were used. All of the three buildings also feature attractive Juliette balconies.
As part of their work scope on this project, Durkan Limited also created communal landscaped gardens in the central courtyard which all three building face, in order to improve views from the windows and balconies, as well as, create an ecologically balanced system.
