Cyril Smith House, Enfield

Sudbury Heights, Ealing

Project information

Durkan Limited have just completed a new brand of affordable housing at Sudbury Heights in Ealing: a unique collaboration with private developer Pocket Living. The scheme, located on Sudbury Heights Avenue, offer 34 one-bedroom and 5 two-bedroom apartments for private sale at a fraction of the market value.

TThe apartments are targeted at 'intermediate' first-time buyers: those with too high a salary to be eligible for social housing, but who cannot afford open market prices. Buyers own 100 percent of their homes and Pocket Living even offer help to seek the best mortgage deals.

Built within a gated community, Sudbury Heights has solar panels to generate electricity for the building's hot water systems and the car park includes two spaces allocated to car clubs. Durkan built the apartments to very high levels of specification and included large windows to maximise light, under floor heating, private terraces and roof gardens. A lift is also provided for easy access to all floors.

Sudbury Heights provide a much-needed boost to affordable housing in London and presents a groundbreaking solution to help the thousands of Londoners priced out of the property market and salaried out of social housing.
