Sulgrave Gardens, London W6 Project information Durkan are working with Octavia to construct one of London’s first mixed-tenure Passivhaus residential developments. The Passivhaus Certification is the work’s leading standard in energy efficient construction; its high insulation requirements can deliver savings of 90% or more on fuel bills against traditional housing if used correctly. The 31 homes, to be built on a tight urban site, comprises seven houses, for private sale, eleven flats and two house for shared ownership and eight maisonettes and one house for affordable rent. Each home will be fitted with a mechanical ventilation and heat recovery (MVHR) system to provide a constant flow of internal fresh air, maintaining a healthy living environment with little need for expensive central heating. Triple glazing, thermal bridging, passive and non-passive shading and low energy lighting have all been included in the design.
