Tyssen Street, Hackney Project information Durkan’s project at Tyssen Street in Hackney includes the demolition of the existing vacant commercial buildings and the construction of 2 residential blocks ranging in height between four and five storeys. The mixed use development will include 27 apartments for affordable rent and shared ownership, ranging between 1 and 4 bedrooms. 3 will be one bedroom, 14 two bedroom, 6 three bedroom and 4 four bedroom. The large apartments will help to meet the demand for larger family homes in the borough of Hackney. On the ground floor of one of the blocks commercial space will be provided. External works will include private gardens for ground floor family apartments, associated landscaping and a communal roof terrace as well as cycle parking and storage. All apartments above the ground floor have access to balconies. The development received Level 3 Code for Sustainable Homes. A 10% reduction in carbon emissions through the use of renewable energy sources will be achieved and a system of solar thermal panels will be provided to the roof of both blocks.
