Wembley High Technology College

Project information

At Wembley High Technology College, Durkan demolished an existing single storey building and constructed a 3-storey teaching block linked to the existing 6th Form Library, which was constructed in 2008.

The new building has been sensitively designed to be in keeping with the existing building.  A glass covered area provides a link between the main school building and the new 6th Form block, as well as a sheltered area for students. The ground floor has wheelchair access and a lift has been provided to access the upper floors. Doors have vision panels suitable for disabled persons and are colour co-ordinated to aid the visually impaired.

The high levels of thermal insulation to new and refurbished parts of the building fabric will reduce energy requirements. The installation of new heating appliances reduced emission levels.
