The development, situated on disused heathland will involve the design and construction of a mix of houses and flats to be used for shared ownership and affordable rent. Ranging up to 3 storeys in height, the homes will include 1 to 4 bedrooms each and are being constructed as part of a wider development to provide over 300 homes in total.
The impressive new scheme will achieve Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4. To attain this, the development will include a range of sustainable and energy saving technologies including photovoltaic panels which will provide electricity to every home and high quality insulation to guarantee low U-values. The timber frame homes are being constructed using low or zero carbon technologies and as a result the overall development will provide a 15% reduction in total carbon emissions, exceeding compliance to the standard assessment procedure (SAP).
The development will be arranged around courtyards and green space, providing, secure, semi-private open environments for residents to socialise and for children to play. The banks will provide informal seating whilst the surrounding area will be attractive to residents from the local borough, existing woodland and wildlife habitats will be enhanced with sympathetically integrated planting and the provision of wetland features, footpaths and meadow grassland.
Managing Director of Durkan, Robert Clark, comments: “We are delighted to be working with Elmbridge Housing Association & Accent Peerless on this exciting new development in Addlestone. The project will have a positive impact on people both living and working around the area.”
