Durkan to redevelop two landmark buildings

Durkan Limited has recently been awarded contracts for the redevelopment of two historical buildings - Arlington House in Camden and Greengate House in Plaistow.

Arlington House, the former Rowton Hostel, is a landmark building which originally opened in 1905 to provide accommodation for homeless men. The client, Novas Ouvertures, is a specialist provider of hostel accommodation, care services and support for homeless people throughout the UK. Work on the £13m project is due to be completed within an 84-week construction programme commencing in May.

Durkan Limited also received the £10m contract for the redevelopment of the former Greengate House in Plaistow. This complex scheme includes the retention of the original façade of the magnificent former YMCA building - initially constructed in the 1920s with decorative ceramic features. The project incorporates the design and construction of 64 new apartments with underground parking facilities for Tower Homes Limited.
