Islington to get new "Myplace" Youth Hub
Durkan are transforming a Grade II listed building into a world-class performing arts centre for young people within the Borough of Islington.
The extensive refurbishment and remodelling of the old laundry rooms at Hornsey Road Baths will provide performance space, a media centre, dance studio and café. The centre will also act as a "Youth Hub" to ensure that children and young people in the local area are given the best possible opportunity to fulfil their potential. The Centre will offer information, advice, guidance and support, as well as giving access to training and apprenticeships. The project is being funded by the Government's "Myplace" programme (delivered by the Big Lottery Fund) whose member's recently took the opportunity to visit the site to see how the works are progressing.
