Local children decorate Durkan's site hoardings
On 13th August Durkan invited children from a local nursery to help decorate Durkan's site hoardings at our Hornsey Road Baths project in Islington.
The children from the Mitford under Five's Sure Start Children Centre spent time creating multicoloured hand painting murals, brightening up Durkan's otherwise plain white hoardings.
The hoardings will be up untill February next year, when Durkan will have completed the £2.5 million renovation of the Grade II listed laundry building, transforming it in to a world-class performing arts centre for young people on behalf of the London Borough of Islington.
Funded by the government's 'MyPlace' programme, the new centre will act as a 'Youth Hub' to ensure that children and young people in the local area are given the best possible opportunities to help them develop important life skills to fulfil their potential.
