The refund scheme is straight forward. Fifteen years ago Durkan paid a premium to the NHBC to guarantee the affordable homes they built in 1994. If any claims had been settled on the Durkan built homes the NHBC would have deducted them from the initial premium and added interest to whatever remained. As no claims were registered against the large amount of homes Durkan built that year, the full balance has been refunded with interest.
This refund has been achieved due to high level of quality control Durkan have integrated and maintained for over 45 years. The number of long term partnerships with which Durkan is involved, many as preferred supplier demonstrates that Durkan places quality as a high priority and homes are built to very high standards.
Robert Clark, Managing Director commented “Our procedures ensure that all work completed on our sites meet and exceed the quality aspirations of our clients. We understand that building strong and trusting relationships with our clients to mutually meet the needs of future residents is the only way to achieve the high standards we set ourselves.”
Durkan is an associate member of the Considerate Constructors Scheme and continues to receive above average site scores. All projects and constructions are quality controlled to ISO 9001 standards. However, to achieve ever higher standards, the quality control team at Durkan has developed a number of unique procedures that go above and beyond the standard requirements.
Durkan have integrated subcontractors and supply-chain partners into the development and implementation of their Quality Management System. All parties sign up to the Project Quality Plan, prior to commencement of each project. The plans set out strategies and procedures for managing quality throughout each stage of the construction process. Plans are continually monitored by Durkan’s inhouse Quality Control Manager, Chris Hickman.
Chris Hickman, comments “The culture at Durkan is not only to meet but exceed clients expectations. In light of this, we have developed additional systems of quality control and working closely with supply-chains partners to meet exacting standards. Procedures like the Construction Quality Site Bulletins have also lead to innovations in the way we work.”
