Our long term commitment
Durkan’s commitment to community sustainability means we continue to work with clients even after our projects have been completed. In Redbridge, we completed Jason Lee House and The Welcome Centre last year and we continue to work with them bringing training and employment opportunities to some of the most vulnerable and hard to reach individuals in society.

On the 11th January Paul McCrea and Kevin O’Connor attended their third training and employment event at Jason Lee House, and are in the process of helping to establish ‘work readiness’ initiatives. We have had great success with this approach previously, successfully getting service users from Cricklewood Homeless Concern, Centrepoint, and Redbridge back into the workplace.
Paul and Kevin are also maintaining our links with long-term partner GLLaB (Greenwich Local Labour and Business) and will be attending a jobs fair organised by them at Charlton FC on 25th January. In February Paul has been invited by one of our principal clients, L&Q, to give a presentation on apprenticeships to young job seekers on the Aylesbury Estate as part of National Apprenticeship Week and at Clapham Park, Durkan are founder members of the Community Investment Group through which we have delivered local employment opportunities for long-term job seekers and apprenticeships for hard to reach youngsters.
We have also provided financial support that enabled families to join in with a rare day trip to the seaside and gave isolated older residents the chance to enjoy a Christmas lunch. Through our work with communities we hope to tap into local skills and talent and deliver on our commitment to community sustainability.
