Leading the way in sustainability

Our aim is to create sustainable communities while carefully managing their environmental impact and minimising future maintenance requirements. All our employees are actively encouraged to play a role in helping us to be a leader in urban regeneration throughout London and the south east of England.

For over 45 years the Durkan Group has been committed to sustainable development. For us, 'sustainability' means managing our environmental, social and ethical responsibilities in relation to the everyday management of our business and buildings.

We know that to build on our success, we must maximise the benefits and reduce the impacts of our business on people, communities, partners and the environment.

Our key sustainability objectives are to:

  • Create high quality, sustainable buildings
  • Embed sustainability within our operations
  • Give employees the necessary skills and expertise to deliver objectives
  • Build long-lasting, vibrant communities where residents can lead sustainable lifestyles

Sustainability work group

Made up of employees from various departments throughout the company, our proactive sustainability work group makes sure that our approach is implemented at an operational level.

The group leads, plans, sets targets, monitors performance and tracks progress on key initiatives such as renewable energy, water conservation, waste reduction, ethical procurement and human resources.
