Emily House is ideally located overlooking the Grand Union Canal, which in itself brought with it construction challenges that we successfully overcame. Durkan completed the design and construction of a new five-storey building with 3,281 square metres of high specification office space.
The project is a mix of four and five-storey construction with a variety of brick, block and some glass curtain walling. The roof is metal clad covering a steel portal frame and the specification provided for a full mechanical and electrical fit-out, installation of new air conditioning, fully accessible computer raised floors and a suspended ceiling with integral light fitting.
The project included a variety of energy efficiency measures with solar photovoltaic panels providing a portion of the building’s energy needs. Emily House is a perfect example of a mixed use, mixed tenure building where each component part operates independently.
