Council Leader visits visionary new housing facility

Councillor Rachael Robathan, Leader of Westminster City Council, has visited Beachcroft House in Maida Vale as construction of the visionary new housing facility nears completion.

Beachcroft House is the first part of the Specialist Housing Strategy for Older People (SHSOP) to be built in Westminster and will help tackle social isolation, illness and frailty in the city by providing 84 state-of-the-art care spaces. During a socially distanced tour of the site, Councillor Robathan visited one of the new apartments and the sensory garden – an important part of the development designed to stimulate residents suffering from dementia.

Councillor Robathan said: “Our contractor Durkan has done a fantastic job in continuing to work on site for our brand new care home Beachcroft, despite construction challenges due to the pandemic. Working with Durkan, we’ll be able to deliver over 80 modern homes, shared spaces and quiet areas for our older population living in Westminster later this year.”
