With two train stations within walking distance, our homes at Granary & Chapel serve as a great base for easy transport into London. With regular trains from both Hertford East and Hertford North, you can find yourself in the capital in less than an hour.

If you’re looking to get from Hertfordshire to London by car, then the A10 road that connects the capital with East Anglia is a simple 6-minute drive from Granary & Chapel.

Little over half a mile away from Granary & Chapel is Hertford’s town centre – home to an abundance of shops, with a nice mix of high street chains, independent stores, and charity shops.

There are also a number of convenience stores in the local area for you to pick up everyday essentials. For the weekly food shop, Marks & Spencer Simply Food and Sainsbury’s are close by.

Living in Hertford you’ll have the choice of over 40 pubs, bars, and restaurants including Chinese, Indian, Italian, and so much more.

The upcoming ‘Lea Wharf’ riverside development has shown renewed investment in Hertford. This will bring further retail, restaurants, and leisure into the town. Another place in Hertford for you to eat and shop during the day, or soak up the amazing night-time atmosphere.

In addition to the number of bars and restaurants on offer, Hertford is home to a variety of things to do and places to visit.

Granary & Chapel is within walking distance of the Hartham Common Park – an area with a confluence of the Rivers Lea and Beane that make for a walking area with beautiful scenery, where you can also play football, tennis, bowls and even dip into the water by canoeing or kayaking. The Hertford & Ware Waterbus also runs along the River Lea, which can take you from the town centre through to Ware Town Quay every weekend in the summer months.

Looking for fitness opportunities? Visit the Hartham Leisure Centre to make use of its modern facilities including a gym, artificial football pitches, outdoor tennis court, and a swimming pool for swimmers of all abilities.

Our Granary & Chapel development is serviced by a number of schools with ‘Outstanding’ and ‘Good’ Ofsted ratings. Simon Balle All-through School and Presdales Secondary School (for Girls) are just two of the schools in the local area to achieve an Outstanding Ofsted rating, with Richard Hale Secondary School (for Boys) achieving a ‘Good’ rating.

For children at Primary education there’s Abel Smith and Wheatcroft Primary Schools reaching ‘Outstanding’ and ‘Good’ Ofsted ratings respectively.
