Durkan appointed to help UK public sector decarbonise and retrofit

We are really excited to share that Durkan has been appointed as a specialist contractor that will help the UK’s public sector decarbonise – work that is critical to the government meeting its 2050 net zero target.

We join an important framework led by Fusion21, the social enterprise coordinating the delivery of a £750 million energy efficiency fund that is open for the public sector to access.

The vital investment will see us support the design and delivery of energy efficiency measures, including renewable and heating technology, new power and building management systems and improvements to the thermal capabilities of buildings.

Our work will see us support housing associations and local authorities in the South East for the next four years.

Tim Carpenter, Group New Business Director at Durkan, said: “More action is needed now to improve how our homes and public spaces are built, run and retrofitted to work more efficiently.  We’re focused on this already through our wider contracting work and in how we design and build our own homes.  It’s fantastic to now also be part of this framework that will allow us to bring our expertise and capabilities to help more organisations in the public sector.

“This new framework appointment is also the latest in a string of new business wins for Durkan – something I’m exceptionally proud of.  And this is on top of our own thriving housebuilding work, where progress on several high-quality developments is continuing at pace and sales are strong.  With this momentum I know the Durkan team can’t wait to begin working with Fusion21 and our new partners.”
