On Saturday 21st November, Durkan employees joined the dedicated volunteer group ‘Ethelburga SOS Angels’ as they prepared, delivered and handed out food boxes to local Ethelburga Estate residents who have been affected by the social and economic fallout of Covid-19.
Durkan and sub-contractors who are currently working on the estate refurbishment, have kindly donated £2500 towards the project to help purchase fresh fruit and vegetables in addition to long-life groceries for the Ethelburga Food Bank.
Peter Lanigan-O’Keefe, chairman of the Ethelburga Community Resident’s Association said “This latest food box scheme is just one more initiative from the hard-working committees of the two Residents’ Associations on the estate and continues the successful projects begun in March this year to support the elderly, the vulnerable and those affected by a change in circumstances over the past few months. Weekly deliveries to over 30 households on the estate as well as to residents of the 16 sheltered housing units now provide much needed support and we are very grateful for the generosity shown by the companies involved. A big THANK YOU from everyone here.”
