A commitment to sustainable development

Across the Durkan Group, sustainability means managing the environmental, social and economic impacts of our business responsibly. We are committed to reducing carbon emissions, utilising innovative technology and enhancing the natural environment wherever we operate.

Our ISO14001-accredited Environmental Management Plan ensures continuous improvement in waste minimisation and sustainable procurement practices. We work closely with our supply chain to build collaborative relationships that deliver sustainable targets, seeking local labour and materials whilst sharing intelligence and innovation.

We recognise the importance of sustainable procurement as a means of combining our ethical values with company practices. Every site utilises SmartWaste delivered by the BRE, enabling compliance of waste regulations whilst setting, monitoring and reviewing environmental targets across our supply chain.

Our commitment extends to staying current with legislation, including the New London Plan, UK Government Energy White Paper and Future Building Standards. This means we remain at the forefront of sustainable construction whilst contributing to global carbon reduction targets.

Ronan Murphy, Durkan Group CEO

"Through our developments and regeneration projects, we don't just create buildings – we build thriving communities. We aim to make significant, long-term contributions to the environmental, social and economic fabric of every area we help to develop."

Creating your community

Our mission is to bring positive improvements to people, places and the environment using sustainability’s three pillars: social, economic and environmental. We want all projects to have a lasting positive impact on surrounding communities, achieved through partnerships with clients and voluntary sector groups.
